Hanwha Convergence USA seeks a Regional Commercial Solar Technician 4 to serve as the senior technical resource for commercial and industrial rooftop PV systems throughout an assigned region. This remote-based position provides advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and technical leadership for systems ranging from 100 kW to 10 MW.
About the Role
As the regional technical expert, you will resolve complex electrical and equipment failures across multiple customer sites, mentor junior technicians, and coordinate with field teams, engineering, OEMs, and subcontractors to maximize system uptime and customer satisfaction. You will respond to escalations that Field Technicians and service partners cannot resolve and lead efforts to restore production while minimizing downtime.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of string inverters, central inverters, combiner boxes, AC/DC electrical systems, monitoring equipment, communications networks, transformers, and balance-of-system equipment on commercial rooftop PV installations.
- Support maintenance activities across multiple commercial customer facilities throughout the assigned region.
- Respond to technical escalations and lead complex troubleshooting efforts to restore system production.
- Diagnose communication failures involving SCADA, DAS, revenue meters, gateways, networking equipment, and remote monitoring platforms.
- Perform advanced electrical testing using multimeters, insulation resistance testers, IV curve tracers, thermal imaging cameras, and other diagnostic equipment on energized PV systems.
- Support commissioning, recommissioning, and equipment replacement projects.
- Review production data and identify system performance issues requiring corrective action.
- Mentor and train Field Technicians I–III on troubleshooting methods, safety protocols, and maintenance best practices.
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractors performing maintenance or repair work.
- Maintain accurate service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders in HEIS 2.0 or other CMMS platforms.
- Communicate directly with customer facility representatives regarding maintenance activities, outage status, and repair recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO, PPE, and company safety standards.
- Support emergency response and after-hours service calls as required.
- Travel throughout the assigned region (approximately 60–75%) to support multiple customer sites.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience maintaining commercial and industrial solar PV systems.
- Extensive experience with rooftop solar installations up to approximately 10 MW.
- Advanced knowledge of string inverters (SolarEdge, SMA, Fronius, Sungrow, etc.), central inverters, combiner boxes, DC collection systems, AC switchgear, transformers, revenue metering, SCADA systems, and monitoring equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform advanced electrical diagnostics on energized PV systems.
- Ability to interpret one-line diagrams, electrical drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Experience leading field crews and mentoring technicians.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work safely on commercial rooftops at heights with fall protection equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 35 pounds or more.
- Ability to work in temperature extremes and varying weather conditions while wearing all required PPE, including arc-flash protection.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned region (60–75%), including occasional overnight travel.
- Ability to respond to emergency service calls outside normal business hours.
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional or PV Commissioning & Maintenance Certification (preferred).
- Journeyman Electrician License (preferred).
- OSHA 30 certification (preferred).
- OEM inverter certifications (preferred).

- Salary: $99,800–$124,800.
