Job Description
Sunrun is seeking a Lead Installer to join its team in Somerset, New Jersey. This position oversees the installation of residential solar photovoltaic systems and manages on-site crews.
About the Role
As Lead Installer, you will direct daily solar installation operations, ensure quality workmanship, and maintain safety compliance across residential rooftop and ground-mounted PV projects. You will serve as the primary point of contact between the installation crew and management.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate installation crews on residential PV systems
- Ensure proper module placement, racking installation, and electrical wiring (DC/AC)
- Conduct on-site quality inspections and verify system compliance
- Maintain OSHA and electrical safety standards throughout all job phases
- Train and mentor crew members on installation techniques and safety protocols
- Communicate project status and scheduling with management and customers
- Document completed work and prepare systems for utility interconnection
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of solar PV installation experience
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
- NABCEP certification or equivalent PV industry credentials preferred
- OSHA 30-hour card or willingness to obtain
- Electrical knowledge and proficiency with hand and power tools
- Ability to work at heights and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs regularly
- Strong communication and crew leadership skills
- Flexibility to travel to job sites within the service area
