Job Description

Sunrun is seeking a Lead Installer to join its team in Somerset, New Jersey. This position oversees the installation of residential solar photovoltaic systems and manages on-site crews.

About the Role

As Lead Installer, you will direct daily solar installation operations, ensure quality workmanship, and maintain safety compliance across residential rooftop and ground-mounted PV projects. You will serve as the primary point of contact between the installation crew and management.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate installation crews on residential PV systems
  • Ensure proper module placement, racking installation, and electrical wiring (DC/AC)
  • Conduct on-site quality inspections and verify system compliance
  • Maintain OSHA and electrical safety standards throughout all job phases
  • Train and mentor crew members on installation techniques and safety protocols
  • Communicate project status and scheduling with management and customers
  • Document completed work and prepare systems for utility interconnection

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of solar PV installation experience
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
  • NABCEP certification or equivalent PV industry credentials preferred
  • OSHA 30-hour card or willingness to obtain
  • Electrical knowledge and proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Ability to work at heights and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Strong communication and crew leadership skills
  • Flexibility to travel to job sites within the service area
