Job Description
Sunrun, the largest dedicated residential solar and storage company in the United States, is hiring an Installer in Palmdale, CA. You'll work as part of a solar installation construction team to complete residential PV projects, with a focus on safety, teamwork, and technical skill development.
About the Role
This position supports the Foreperson and Lead Installer on residential solar installation projects. Sunrun operates a vertically integrated model covering the full energy lifecycle—from sales through installation and service—creating opportunities to work across different teams and advance your skills in multiple areas of the business.
Responsibilities
- Maintain personal, crew, and job site safety; participate in training on new products, installation methodology, and safety protocols
- Review and stock crew truck inventory at the loading dock
- Perform layout and assembly of solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment according to project specifications
- Apply weather sealing to roofing structures and support mechanisms
- Complete project cleanup of client site and installation vehicles
Requirements
- Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
- Ability to identify and report safety hazards; commitment to company safety policies and procedures
- Professional and courteous manner with customers and coworkers
- Ability to meet deadlines and performance metrics in a team-based environment
- Capacity to lift and transport materials up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance work
- Ability to climb ladders and work safely at heights
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, cold, wet environments, and humidity
- Fine motor skills for manipulation, grasping, and pinching
- Competency with fall protection harnesses and personal protective equipment
- Ability to work on roof tiles, shingles, and rafters without damage
- Ability to distinguish colors (red, black, yellow, white, green)
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
- Ability to hear and respond to verbal commands and warnings
- Ability to work safely with chemicals using appropriate protections
