Job Description
Sunrun seeks an experienced Lead Installer for residential solar photovoltaic installation work based in Schaumburg, IL. This position leads installation crews in the deployment of rooftop PV systems for homeowners across the region.
About the Role
As a Lead Installer, you will oversee daily installation operations, manage crew performance, and ensure projects meet Sunrun's quality and safety standards. You will work directly with customers and coordinate with the broader project team to deliver complete residential solar systems from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise installation crews on residential rooftop PV projects
- Oversee module placement, racking systems, and electrical connections (DC and AC wiring)
- Conduct pre-installation site assessments and post-installation inspections
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, electrical standards, and safety protocols on every job
- Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques and safety procedures
- Communicate project status and any issues to project managers and customers
- Maintain detailed records and documentation for each installation
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- 3+ years of hands-on solar PV installation experience or equivalent construction background
- NABCEP Solar PV Installation Professional certification or equivalent credentials preferred
- OSHA 30-Hour card or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools, testing equipment, and installation software
- Strong understanding of residential electrical systems, DC/AC circuit fundamentals, and NEC code requirements
- Ability to work safely at heights and manage physical demands of rooftop installation (lifting, climbing, carrying equipment)
- Leadership experience directing small teams on technical projects
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
