Job Description

Enphase Energy seeks a Field Service Technician for a 6-month temporary assignment based in Hartford, CT. You will provide on-site support to distribution and installation partners, servicing PV and battery storage systems while managing problems from initial diagnosis through resolution.

About the Role

This position involves regular field work in residential and commercial settings across an assigned territory, with up to 50% travel including potential out-of-state trips, overnight stays, and extended assignments lasting up to two consecutive weeks. You will diagnose and resolve system issues, coordinate directly with homeowners and scheduling teams, and maintain detailed documentation of all service activities.

Responsibilities

  • Service Enphase PV and battery storage systems within the assigned territory.
  • Perform on-site testing and diagnostics to evaluate system performance and identify issues.
  • Act as liaison between scheduling team and homeowners to coordinate site visits and ensure alignment with customer support.
  • Perform microinverter maintenance and update the Enlighten monitoring system to reflect all changes.
  • Install and route conduit, copper piping, and flexible tubing; manage wiring as needed.
  • Complete solar maintenance reports and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform work on rooftops and elevated structures regularly.
  • Utilize standard field tools, including drills, levels, squares, tape measures, ladders, and related equipment.
  • Maintain tool inventory and adhere to tool management standards.
  • Follow OSHA safety standards and participate in regular safety training and protocols.
  • Respond promptly to customer needs and deliver high-level customer service.
  • Train and mentor team members on proper installation techniques and best practices.
  • Review system designs and develop job-specific bills of materials (BOM/BOS).
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes, efficiency, and workmanship standards.
  • Possess valid identification acceptable for domestic air travel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical installation and service.
  • Commercial or residential electrical license.
  • NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certification.
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record; must be insurable.
  • Proficiency with computers and ability to navigate multiple applications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read and interpret plan sets.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to safety and security procedures.
  • Ability to follow instructions and respond constructively to feedback.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to manage change, delays, and unexpected challenges.
  • Willingness to learn and apply a variety of tools and techniques related to electrical work.
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours as needed.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds of tools and equipment.
  • Frequently use hands to handle, grasp, and reach.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, and perform movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Ascend and descend ladders as required.
  • Perform work on rooftops and uneven surfaces, including at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Work in outdoor environments in various weather conditions and manage exposure to electrical hazards.

Benefits

Hourly rate range: $29 to $42, based on experience, skills, and location. This is a fixed-term temporary employee position with compensation determined in accordance with applicable laws and internal equity.
