Enphase Energy, a global provider of solar, battery, and EV charging systems, is hiring a Field Service Technician in Richmond, VA to deliver on-site technical support to distribution and installation partners, servicing residential and commercial PV and storage systems.
About the Role
This position supports Enphase customers across an assigned territory, performing diagnostics, maintenance, and system updates on microinverter-based solar installations. The role involves significant travel (up to 50%), rooftop work, and direct coordination with homeowners and scheduling teams to resolve technical issues and ensure system reliability.
Responsibilities
- Travel up to 50% within assigned territory, including out-of-state trips, overnight stays, and extended assignments up to two consecutive weeks; must possess valid domestic travel identification.
- Service and maintain Enphase PV and battery storage systems at customer sites.
- Conduct onsite testing, diagnostics, and performance evaluation of solar installations to identify system issues.
- Perform microinverter maintenance and update the Enlighten monitoring system to document all changes.
- Install, route, and manage conduit, copper piping, flexible tubing, and wiring as required.
- Work regularly on rooftops and elevated structures, maintaining safety protocols at all heights.
- Coordinate with scheduling teams and homeowners to arrange and manage site visits.
- Complete solar maintenance reports and required documentation accurately and on schedule.
- Operate standard field tools including drills, levels, squares, tape measures, and ladders.
- Maintain tool inventory and adhere to tool management standards.
- Follow all OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols; participate in regular safety training.
- Respond promptly to customer needs and deliver high-level customer service throughout all interactions.
- Train and mentor team members on proper installation techniques and industry best practices.
- Review system designs and develop job-specific bills of materials (BOM/BOS).
- Work independently with minimal supervision and drive continuous improvement in processes and workmanship standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in electrical installation and service.
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record; must be insurable.
- Commercial or residential electrical license.
- NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certification.
- Proficiency with computer applications and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plan sets.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Benefits
This position offers an hourly rate of $23–$36, based on experience, skills, and location. The role is eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits, with final compensation determined in accordance with applicable laws and internal equity guidelines.
