Job Description
Sunrun seeks a detail-oriented Installer for residential solar installation projects in Ventura, CA. Working alongside the Foreperson and Lead Installer, you will assemble photovoltaic modules, racking systems, and electrical equipment on rooftops while maintaining rigorous safety and quality standards.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position within a residential solar installation crew. You will be responsible for preparing materials, installing PV components, sealing roofing penetrations, and ensuring clean job sites and work vehicles. Sunrun operates a vertically integrated model spanning sales, installation, inspection, and service, creating internal mobility and consistent work opportunities across seasons.
Responsibilities
- Maintain personal, crew, and job site safety; participate in product and safety training sessions
- Verify truck inventory at loading dock to confirm crew has all required materials and tools
- Assemble solar modules, racking systems, mechanical/structural mounts, and electrical equipment per project specifications
- Apply weather sealing and flashing to roofing structures and mounting penetrations
- Perform site cleanup including customer property and installation vehicle preparation
- Identify and report safety hazards; encourage safe work practices among crew
Requirements
- Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
- Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently; up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Comfortable working on rooftops with varied angles and surfaces, requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights using fall protection harnesses and personal protective equipment
- Capacity to work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, wet environments, excessive noise, and humidity
- Fine motor skills for precise hand functions including manipulation, grasping, and pinching
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
- Capable of distinguishing colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
- Able to hear verbal commands and warnings
- Comfortable working with chemicals using appropriate personal protective equipment
- Professional and courteous demeanor with customers and coworkers
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment
