Job Description

Sunrun seeks an Installer for residential solar installation projects in Petaluma, CA. This role involves working alongside a Foreperson and Lead Installer to assemble, mount, and wire photovoltaic systems on residential rooftops.

About the Role

You will be a core member of Sunrun's solar installation construction team, responsible for executing residential PV installations from layout through final assembly. The role emphasizes on-site safety, teamwork, and hands-on technical execution across rooftop and interior work environments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain personal, crew, and job site safety; participate in training on new products, installation methods, and safety protocols
  • Verify crew truck inventory at the loading dock to confirm adequate materials and equipment for assigned projects
  • Lay out, assemble, and install solar modules, racking systems, structural mounts, and electrical equipment according to project specifications
  • Apply weather sealing to roofing structures and building support mechanisms
  • Clean up job sites and installation vehicles to maintain orderly work environments
  • Identify and report safety hazards; encourage coworkers to follow safe work practices

Requirements

  • Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to lift and transport materials up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Comfortable working on rooftops with varied angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance work
  • Capable of climbing ladders and working safely at heights
  • Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, moisture, noise, and low-light environments
  • Proficiency with hand tools and fine motor skills for manipulation, grasping, and fastening work
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to work safely with fall protection harnesses, ladders, PPE, and other safety equipment
  • Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings on job sites
  • Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
  • Ability to walk on roof surfaces without causing damage
  • Experience or willingness to work with chemical sealants using appropriate protections
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work professionally with customers and team members
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and performance metrics in a fast-paced team environment
