Job Description
Sunrun seeks an Installer to join residential solar installation construction teams in Los Angeles, CA. You will work alongside Foreperson and Lead Installer roles to complete PV system installations on residential homes, prioritizing safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork.
About the Role
The Installer is a core member of Sunrun's field installation crews. This position emphasizes hands-on work installing photovoltaic modules, racking systems, and electrical components on residential rooftops. Sunrun operates a vertically integrated model covering sales, installation, inspection, and service, which creates pathways to cross-functional roles and year-round employment stability.
Responsibilities
- Maintain personal safety, crew safety, and jobsite safety standards; participate in training on new products, installation methods, and safety protocols
- Inspect and organize crew truck inventory at the loading dock to confirm adequate equipment and materials
- Lay out, assemble, and position solar modules, racking systems, mechanical mounts, structural supports, and electrical equipment according to project specifications
- Apply weather sealing to roofing structures and support mechanisms
- Clean jobsites and vehicles to maintain professional, orderly work environments
Requirements
- Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
- Demonstrated commitment to safety policies; ability to identify and report hazards and encourage safe practices among coworkers
- Professional and courteous communication with customers and team members
- Ability to meet deadlines and performance metrics as an individual and team contributor
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Comfortable working on rooftops of varying angles and surfaces with frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balancing
- Ability to climb ladders and work safely at height using fall protection harnesses and personal protective equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions: excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity
- Fine motor skills including manipulation, grasping, and pinching for detailed hand work
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
- Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
- Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
- Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without causing damage
- Ability to work safely with chemicals using appropriate protective equipment
