Job Description

Sunrun, the largest dedicated residential solar and storage company in the United States, is hiring an Installer in Milpitas, CA. You will work as part of a residential solar installation construction team alongside a Foreperson and Lead Installer to complete rooftop PV systems for homeowners.

About the Role

This position is core to Sunrun's residential solar installation operations. You will be responsible for safe, quality execution of solar module placement, racking assembly, electrical integration, and weatherproofing on customer homes. The role emphasizes field safety, teamwork, and hands-on problem-solving in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain personal safety, crew safety, and job-site safety protocols; participate in training on new products, installation methods, and safety procedures
  • Inventory materials at the loading dock and verify assigned crew truck is fully stocked before departure
  • Assemble and position solar modules, racking systems, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical components according to project specifications
  • Apply weather sealing to roofing structures, building surfaces, and support mechanisms
  • Perform site cleanup, including customer property and work vehicles, to maintain orderly and safe conditions
  • Identify and report safety hazards; encourage coworkers to follow safe work practices

Requirements

  • Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to transport and position materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work safely on rooftops at various angles and heights, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance work
  • Ability to climb ladders and work with fall protection equipment and other personal protective gear
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity
  • Fine motor skills for detailed hand work including manipulation, grasping, and pinching
  • Ability to work safely in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to hear and respond to verbal commands and safety warnings
  • Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
  • Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and apply appropriate protections
  • Professional and courteous demeanor with customers and coworkers
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and performance metrics as an individual contributor and team member
