Job Description

Sunrun, the largest residential solar and battery company in the United States, is hiring Installers for its San Diego, CA operations. This position is part of a construction team focused on completing residential solar PV installations while prioritizing safety, skill development, and career growth.

About the Role

The Installer works under the direction of a Foreperson and Lead Installer to execute residential solar installation projects. You will be a core member of the field crew, responsible for assembling PV modules, racking systems, and electrical components according to project specifications, as well as ensuring job site safety and cleanliness throughout each installation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain personal, crew, and job site safety at all times; participate in training on products, installation methods, and safety protocols
  • Verify crew truck inventory at the loading dock to confirm adequate materials and equipment are stocked
  • Lay out and assemble solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment as specified in project plans
  • Apply weather sealing to roofing structures, building elements, and support mechanisms
  • Clean up job sites and installation vehicles to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
  • Identify and report safety hazards; encourage coworkers to follow safe work practices

Requirements

  • Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balancing
  • Ability to climb ladders and work safely at heights using fall protection equipment and harnesses
  • Ability to work in diverse outdoor weather conditions: extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, humidity, and excessive noise
  • Fine motor skills including manipulation, grasping, and pinching for electrical and mechanical tasks
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to hear and respond to verbal commands and safety warnings
  • Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green for electrical identification
  • Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protective equipment
  • Courteous and professional demeanor with customers and coworkers
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and metrics while working effectively as a team member
