Job Description

Sunrun, America's largest residential solar and battery company, is hiring a Lead Installer in Santa Fe Springs, CA to oversee and execute residential photovoltaic installation projects while mentoring crew members.

About the Role

The Lead Installer is a hands-on crew member responsible for directing daily solar installation operations and guiding fellow installers through safe, efficient project completion. You will balance hands-on installation work with leadership duties, occasional battery system installation support, and may assume foreperson responsibilities when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Verify crew vehicle is properly stocked with inventory and materials at job start
  • Lay out, assemble, and install solar modules, racking systems, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment according to project specifications
  • Apply weather sealing and flashing to roofing structures and building penetrations
  • Assemble PV racking, modules, panels, and support structures to design specifications
  • Maintain clean and orderly job sites during and after installation
  • Perform site cleanup including client property and vehicle
  • Enforce personal, crew, and job site safety protocols at all times
  • Lead crew through installations with emphasis on safety and efficiency
  • Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and mentorship to installation crew members
  • Assist with solar battery storage installations when assigned
  • Participate in mandatory training on new products, installation methods, and safety procedures
  • Serve as acting foreperson in the foreperson's absence

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous residential solar installation experience required; equivalent construction or military experience may be considered
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass driving background check with clean driving record
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to safety policies, hazard identification, and safety reporting
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on rooftops of varying angles and surfaces; frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance required
  • Ability to work in confined spaces including attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, wet conditions, humidity, and excessive noise
  • Fine motor skills for precise hand functions including manipulation, grasping, and pinching
  • Proficiency with ladders, fall protection harnesses, and personal protective equipment
  • Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and shingles without causing damage
  • Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
  • Ability to hear and respond to verbal commands and safety warnings
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals using appropriate protective equipment
  • Willingness to participate in cross-training and Power+ development programs
  • Strong problem-solving, logical decision-making, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to establish rapport, build relationships with customers and coworkers, and communicate tactfully
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and performance metrics
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment
  • Up to 5% travel required
