Journeyman Electrician

Sunrun, the nation's largest residential solar and battery company, is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to lead solar installation crews in Grand Prairie, TX. This is a hands-on supervisory role combining technical expertise with crew leadership on residential and small commercial photovoltaic projects.

About the Role

You will serve as the electrical foreperson for assigned residential solar installation projects, directly supervising a crew of 3 to 6 installers. This is a working field position where you'll manage safety, quality, customer service, and productivity while actively participating in PV system installation. Sunrun's vertically integrated model provides opportunities to develop skills across sales qualification, installation, inspection, and service work, which can help reduce seasonal downtime and strengthen job security.

Responsibilities

• Lead and train crew members to complete residential and small commercial solar projects safely and on schedule
• Supervise all aspects of residential photovoltaic installations, including DC/AC wiring, PV module placement, racking systems, and balance-of-system components
• Conduct hourly progress checks and enforce adherence to Construction Job Flow Procedures
• Ensure OSHA compliance for photovoltaic installations and maintain consistent application of safety practices across the crew
• Verify adequate materials and equipment are available for safe and efficient project completion
• Maintain accurate project documentation, photo requirements, and time sheet records
• Coordinate with customers throughout the construction phase and collect payments as directed
• Perform weekly vehicle inspections and maintain fleet equipment
• Develop positive working dynamics within the installation crew and branch
• Identify and resolve crew performance issues and recommend solutions
• Provide constructability feedback to management and maintain open communication lines
• Perform service calls and emergency work as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Journeyman Electrician License or Wireman Certification as required by Texas and local regulations
• Current knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC); must maintain an up-to-date NEC code book
• Current CPR and First Aid Certifications (company reimburses certification costs)
• Proven experience performing electrical installation work with systems up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
• Ability to perform all duties of an Installer and Lead Installer on solar projects
• Valid driver's license; 5% travel required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
• Strong mechanical and construction skills with demonstrated attention to detail
• Excellent verbal communication and documentation abilities
• Proven people management skills, including ability to motivate and discipline crew members
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Professional appearance and strong customer interaction skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Ability to work on rooftops at various angles and heights, requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces requiring kneeling and crouching
• Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and shingles without causing damage
• Ability to work safely while wearing fall protection harnesses, heavy protective equipment (arc flash suits, gloves, face shields), and other PPE
• Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity
• Ability to work in sunlight and low-light conditions
• Fine motor skills for detailed hand work including manipulation, grasping, and pinching
• Ability to distinguish colors (red, black, yellow, white, green) and hear verbal commands and warnings
• Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protective measures
