Job Description

Sunrun, the largest residential solar and battery company in the United States, is hiring a Certified Electrician 1 in Santa Fe Springs, CA. In this role, you will lead electrical installations for residential solar systems, manage panel upgrades, and support battery storage deployments while ensuring compliance with current electrical codes.

About the Role

You will work on a range of solar installation and service projects, including new system installations, customer support work, and emerging energy storage technology. The position offers the opportunity to develop skills across multiple aspects of the solar lifecycle—from installation through inspection and ongoing customer service—which strengthens job security and career advancement in a seasonal industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead installation of electrical systems that interconnect solar arrays to customer residential grid power
  • Oversee electrical work quality and ensure compliance with current NEC and local electrical codes
  • Complete residential solar battery installations as assigned
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical system problems and issues
  • Plan and safely execute Main Panel Upgrades (MPU)
  • Coordinate with branch teams and homeowners on system upgrades and repairs required to support solar equipment
  • Work with local inspectors to meet jurisdictional requirements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Travel up to 5% of the time

Requirements

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent state/local certification (e.g., wireman license)
  • Demonstrated experience installing and repairing electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of electrical wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
  • Experience replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels (preferred)
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a driving background check
  • 21 years of age or older with a valid driver's license
  • Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on rooftops, in attics, basements, and confined spaces involving frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, and balance work
  • Capacity to work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, humidity, noise, and wet environments
  • Fine motor skills for detailed hand work including manipulation, grasping, and pinching
  • Ability to work at heights while maintaining balance and using fall protection equipment and personal protective equipment
  • Ability to safely operate ladders and wear heavy protective equipment such as arc flash suits and face shields
  • Ability to walk on roof materials without causing damage
  • Capacity to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
  • Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
  • Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protection
