Job Description

Sunrun, America's leading home solar and battery company, is hiring a Certified Electrician 1 in Lihue, HI to lead electrical installations, troubleshooting, and system upgrades on residential solar projects.

About the Role

You will install and service solar photovoltaic systems, perform electrical troubleshooting, and complete main panel upgrades on residential properties. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple aspects of solar energy—from new installations to battery storage and system servicing—with potential for cross-team training and career development. Travel requirements are approximately 5%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation of electrical systems that interconnect solar arrays to grid power on residential properties
  • Supervise and inspect all electrical work performed by other electricians to ensure compliance with current NEC and local electrical codes
  • Install and commission residential solar battery systems
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical system problems and faults
  • Plan and execute main panel upgrades safely and to code
  • Coordinate with branch teams and homeowners to complete system upgrades and repairs supporting solar installations
  • Work with local building inspectors to meet jurisdictional requirements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent state/local certification (e.g., wireman license)
  • Demonstrated experience installing and repairing electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of electrical wiring systems rated up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
  • Experience replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels (preferred)
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record with ability to pass background check
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to lift and transport materials up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and crawling
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, wet conditions, and humidity with exposure to excessive noise
  • Ability to safely use ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work while wearing heavy protective equipment including arc flash suits and face shields
  • Ability to maintain balance on roofs and at heights
  • Ability to walk on roof surfaces without causing damage
  • Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
  • Ability to hear verbal commands and safety warnings
  • Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate personal protective measures
  • Demonstrated focus on safety and customer service
