Lead Installer

Sunrun is seeking a Lead Installer for residential solar installation projects in Stockton, CA. This role combines hands-on installation work with crew leadership and coordination responsibilities.

About the Role

As a Lead Installer, you will work as part of a solar installation construction crew while guiding and coordinating fellow installers on daily job sites. You'll contribute to completing residential PV installations from start to finish, with opportunities to develop skills across multiple departments through Sunrun's Power+ cross-training program.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify crew truck inventory at loading dock before departing for job sites
• Layout and assemble solar modules, racking systems, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment per project specifications
• Apply weather sealing to roofing structures and support mechanisms
• Install racking, solar panels, and support structures according to project plans
• Maintain clean, orderly job sites and perform end-of-day cleanup at customer locations and installation vehicles
• Ensure personal safety, crew safety, and job site safety compliance at all times
• Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology, and safety procedures
• Lead crew members through safe, effective, and efficient installations
• Provide technical expertise, mentoring, and support to fellow installers
• Assist with solar battery storage installations when assigned
• Serve as acting Foreperson in the Foreperson's absence as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous solar installation experience required; equivalent construction or military experience may be considered
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving background check with a clean driving record
• Minimum age 21
• Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and balance work
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
• Capacity to transport and lift materials up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, wet environments, and humidity
• Fine motor skills for precise hand manipulation, grasping, and pinching tasks
• Proficiency with ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment
• Ability to walk on roof tiles, shingles, and rafters without causing damage
• Color vision to distinguish red, black, yellow, white, and green
• Ability to hear and respond to verbal commands and safety warnings
• Ability to work safely with chemicals using appropriate protective equipment
• Willingness to participate in Power+ cross-training programs and work in other departments as needed
• Strong ability to work independently and as a team player in fast-paced environments
• Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with good judgment
• Ability to establish rapport with customers and coworkers while maintaining professional communication
• Capacity to meet deadlines and key performance metrics
• Willingness to take ownership of issues and escalate concerns appropriately
• Approximately 5% travel required
