Job Description

Sunrun, the largest residential solar and battery company in the United States, is hiring an Installer in Lihue, HI to join a solar installation construction team focused on safety, employee growth, and sustainable energy solutions.

About the Role

The Installer is a key member of residential solar installation crews, working alongside Forepersons and Lead Installers to complete photovoltaic projects from start to finish. This role offers the opportunity to develop skills across multiple functions—including qualifying homes, installing systems, inspecting completed work, and servicing existing installations—which enhances job security and career advancement in the solar industry.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain personal, crew, and job site safety at all times; participate in training on new products, installation methods, and safety protocols
  • Review and stock assigned crew truck with inventory from the loading dock
  • Lay out, assemble, and install solar modules, PV racking systems, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment according to project specifications
  • Apply weather sealing and waterproofing to roofing structures and support mechanisms
  • Identify and report safety hazards; encourage safe work practices among team members
  • Perform site cleanup of both customer properties and installation vehicles to maintain orderly work environments
  • Meet project timelines and performance metrics as an individual and team member

Requirements

  • Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to transport and handle materials up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on rooftops of varying angles and surfaces, requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
  • Ability to climb ladders and work safely at heights using fall protection equipment
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity
  • Fine motor skills for manipulation, grasping, and pinching tasks
  • Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
  • Ability to hear and respond to verbal commands and warnings
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals using appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without causing damage
  • Professional and courteous demeanor with customers and coworkers
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in fast-paced team environments
