Job Description

Sunrun is seeking an Installer for residential solar installation work in Honolulu, HI. You will work as part of a construction crew under a Foreperson and Lead Installer to complete rooftop photovoltaic system installations, with opportunities to cross-train across sales, inspection, and service roles.

About the Role

This is a field-based position focused on safe, quality installation of solar modules, racking systems, and electrical components on residential properties. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain personal, crew, and job site safety at all times; participate in safety training and hazard identification
  • Verify truck inventory at loading dock and ensure crew vehicle is adequately stocked with materials and tools
  • Lay out and assemble solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment per project specifications
  • Apply weather sealing to roofing structures and support mechanisms
  • Clean up work sites and installation vehicles to maintain orderly conditions
  • Participate in cross-training across installation, inspection, and service functions

Requirements

  • Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety policies and ability to identify and report hazards
  • Professional and courteous communication with customers and coworkers
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and performance metrics independently and as a team member
  • Ability to carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on rooftops at various angles and heights, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance work
  • Ability to climb ladders and work safely with fall protection harnesses and personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, humidity, wet conditions, and excessive noise
  • Fine motor skills including manipulation, grasping, and pinching for electrical connections and assembly
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to hear verbal commands and safety warnings
  • Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
  • Ability to walk on roofing materials without causing damage
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and weather-sealing products using appropriate personal protective equipment
