Field Service Technician II – Solar BESS- Traveler Remote, United States Regular Full-Time

RES is hiring a Field Service Technician II – Solar BESS to provide operations and maintenance support at utility-scale solar facilities across the United States. This is a travel-intensive role based remotely, working on preventative and corrective maintenance of solar arrays, trackers, inverters, and battery energy storage systems.

About the Role

You will work alongside senior Field Service Technicians to maintain and troubleshoot utility-scale solar and battery energy storage installations. Your responsibilities span DC and AC electrical diagnostics, preventative maintenance, parts inventory management, and adherence to rigorous safety protocols including LOTO procedures and Job Hazard Analysis.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot low voltage DC power systems and AC power systems (low and medium voltage)
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on AC and DC electrical systems
• Operate and maintain solar panels, tracking systems, power inverters, and related equipment
• Conduct proper Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) procedures before maintenance work
• Use hand tools and electrical diagnostic tools (multimeter, infrared camera) appropriately
• Log maintenance activities and asset data in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
• Maintain spare parts and consumables inventory on-site
• Create and implement Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) before work begins
• Communicate with project stakeholders, equipment manufacturers, and subcontractors
• Operate company vehicles and heavy equipment (skid-steer, forklift) in compliance with regulations
• Follow all site safety plans and report unsafe conditions immediately
• Represent RES professionally to clients and partners

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 3+ years of related maintenance experience
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to reside within 60 miles of a major airport (Denver, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta preferred)
• Domestic travel 76–100% required
• Basic knowledge of high voltage electrical power systems
• Intermediate knowledge of low voltage and medium voltage electrical power systems
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Basic knowledge of electrical circuit theory and schematics/drawings
• Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations
• Basic knowledge of equipment operation (skid-steer, forklift, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) creation
• Basic knowledge of electrical testing tools and ANSI/NETA/MTS standards
• Basic knowledge of SCADA systems
• Ability to take direction from senior site personnel and mentor junior technicians
• Collaboration, attention to detail, ethics and integrity, communication, and prioritization skills
• Associate degree in a related technical field (preferred)
• OSHA 10/30 certification (preferred)
• FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot certification (preferred)

Salary: $28.79–$35.99 per hour, based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
