Lead Installer

Sunrun, the nation's largest residential solar and battery company, seeks a Lead Installer for its Norton, MA installation team. In this role, you will lead a crew through residential solar installations while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

About the Role

As Lead Installer, you will be a core member of the solar installation construction crew, responsible for completing residential photovoltaic projects while guiding and coordinating fellow installers on a daily basis. You may also serve as acting Foreperson when needed and assist with battery storage installations when assigned.

Responsibilities

• Verify crew truck inventory and material stock at job start
• Layout and assemble solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment per project specifications
• Apply weather sealing to roofing structures and support mechanisms
• Assemble PV racking, modules, panels, and support structures as specified in plans
• Maintain a clean and orderly job site and perform site cleanup, including crew vehicle
• Ensure personal, crew, and job site safety at all times
• Participate in mandatory training on products, installation methodology, and safety
• Lead crew through safe, effective, and efficient installations
• Provide technical expertise, leadership, and support to crew members
• Assist with solar battery installations when assigned
• Serve as acting Foreperson in the Foreperson's absence

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous residential solar installation experience required (construction or military experience may be considered as equivalent)
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving background check
• 21 years of age or older
• Adherence to company safety policies and ability to identify, report, and encourage safe work practices
• Ability to establish rapport and communicate tactfully with customers and coworkers
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and performance metrics
• Willingness to participate in cross-training through the Power+ program across departments
• Strong logical decision-making and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to take ownership of issues and escalate problems appropriately
• Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, wet conditions, humidity, and excessive noise
• Proficiency with fine motor skills including fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
• Ability to work safely with ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment
• Ability to maintain balance on roofs and work at heights
• Ability to walk on roof surfaces without damage
• Ability to distinguish colors (red, black, yellow, white, green)
• Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
• Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections
• 5% travel required
