Job Description
Sunrun, the largest dedicated residential solar and storage company in the United States, is hiring a Certified Electrician 2 in Norton, MA. In this role, you will lead solar electrical installations, mentor junior electricians, and drive quality improvements across residential PV projects.
About the Role
As a Certified Electrician 2, you will serve as a technical leader on residential solar and battery storage installations. You'll oversee electrical system interconnection, mentor other electricians, and troubleshoot complex problems to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction. This position offers cross-functional collaboration with inspectors, crew members, and homeowners while supporting Sunrun's vertically integrated installation model. Approximately 5% travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead installation of electrical systems interconnecting solar arrays to residential grid power
- Oversee and verify electrician workmanship for compliance with NEC and local electrical codes
- Install solar battery storage systems as assigned
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system problems
- Plan and execute main panel upgrades (MPU) safely
- Coordinate system upgrades and repairs with branch teams and homeowners to support solar equipment
- Mentor electricians to develop their technical and professional skills
- Train team members on Sunrun best practices and prepare them for advancement
- Work with authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) inspectors and license holders as a subject matter expert
- Identify and resolve recurring quality issues and failed inspections to improve installation pass rates
- Perform additional assigned duties as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent state/local certification (e.g., wireman license)
- Minimum 1 year of solar electrical installation and repair experience
- Demonstrated experience with electrical wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
- Working knowledge of residential electrical service and distribution panel replacement
- Ability to perform all job duties of a Certified Electrician 1
- Demonstrated experience mentoring electricians
- Valid driver's license, minimum age 21
- Clean driving record and ability to pass driving background check

Physical Requirements
- Frequently transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds; lift up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Work on rooftops at various angles and heights, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balancing
- Navigate confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces requiring kneeling and crouching
- Work in outdoor weather conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and high humidity
- Perform fine motor skills including manipulation, grasping, and pinching
- Safely use ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment
- Work while wearing heavy protective equipment including arc flash suits, gloves, and face shields
- Walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without causing damage
- Distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
- Hear verbal commands and safety warnings
- Work with chemicals using appropriate protective measures
