Job Description
Sunrun, America's largest dedicated residential solar and battery company, seeks a Lead Installer for its Stockton, CA installation crew. In this role, you'll oversee residential solar PV installations while guiding and coordinating fellow installers on daily project execution.
About the Role
The Lead Installer serves as a working member of a solar installation construction crew with supervisory responsibilities. You will coordinate crew activities, ensure safe and efficient project completion, and provide technical expertise and leadership to team members. The role offers opportunities for cross-training across installation, inspection, and service functions through Sunrun's Power+ program, which supports career growth and job security.
Responsibilities
- Verify truck inventory at the loading dock and ensure adequate crew stocking
- Layout and assemble solar modules, racking systems, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment per project specifications
- Apply weather sealing to roofing structures and building support mechanisms
- Assemble PV racking, modules, panels, and support structures according to project plans
- Maintain clean and orderly job sites, including final site cleanup and vehicle cleanup
- Enforce personal, crew, and job site safety protocols at all times
- Lead crew through safe, effective, and efficient installations
- Provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to crew members
- Participate in mandatory training on new products, installation methodology, and safety
- Assist with solar battery installations when assigned
- Serve as acting Foreperson in the Foreperson's absence
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous solar installation experience required; equivalent construction or military experience may be considered
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving background check with a clean driving record
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Ability to identify and report safety hazards and encourage safe work practices
- Ability to establish rapport with customers and coworkers, communicating tactfully
- Proven ability to meet project deadlines and key performance metrics
- Willingness to participate in Power+ cross-training programs and work across departments as needed
- Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment
- Strong logical decision-making and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work on rooftops at various angles and heights requiring bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, wet conditions, humidity, and excessive noise
- Ability to perform fine motor skills including manipulation, grasping, and pinching
- Ability to safely use ladders, fall protection harnesses, and personal protective equipment
- Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without causing damage
- Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
- Ability to hear and respond to verbal commands and warnings
- Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protective measures
- Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time
