Job Description

Sunrun seeks an Installer for residential solar installation projects in Sacramento, CA. This role is part of a construction team working under a Foreperson and Lead Installer to complete PV system installations on homes.

About the Role

As an Installer, you will assemble and install residential solar photovoltaic systems, including module placement, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment. You will work outdoors on rooftops and in various weather conditions, coordinate with crew members, and maintain job site safety and cleanliness. Sunrun's vertically integrated model creates opportunities to gain experience across installation, inspection, and service work, which can provide year-round employment stability.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain personal, crew, and job site safety; identify and report hazards; participate in safety training
  • Inspect and stock crew trucks with required materials and equipment at the loading dock
  • Lay out and assemble solar modules, PV racking systems, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical components per project specifications
  • Apply weather sealing to roofing structures and support mechanisms
  • Perform site cleanup, including customer areas and work vehicles
  • Participate in training on new products and installation methodologies

Requirements

  • Previous experience in solar installation, construction, or military service preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely, follow company safety policies, and encourage safe practices among coworkers
  • Professional and courteous communication with customers and team members
  • Ability to meet project timelines and performance metrics as part of a team
  • Capacity to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on rooftops requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance
  • Capability to climb ladders and work at heights with fall protection equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, wet conditions, humidity, and excessive noise
  • Fine motor skills for hand manipulation, grasping, and pinching
  • Ability to work safely with ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment
  • Capacity to maintain balance and walk on roofs, rafters, and roof tiles without causing damage
  • Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Capability to hear and respond to verbal commands and safety warnings
  • Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protective measures
