Sunrun, the largest residential solar and battery company in the United States, is hiring a Certified Electrician for the Bay Area South branch in California. You'll lead electrical installations on residential solar systems, manage main panel upgrades, troubleshoot grid interconnection issues, and support battery storage deployments. This role offers hands-on experience across the full solar lifecycle—from new installations to service work on existing systems—with 5% travel required.
Responsibilities
Lead electrical system installation for solar array-to-grid interconnection on residential properties
Oversee and verify all electrician work meets current NEC and local code compliance
Perform solar battery storage installations
Diagnose and resolve electrical system faults and interconnection problems
Plan and execute main panel upgrades (MPU) safely and to code
Coordinate with branch team and homeowners on system upgrades and repairs needed to support solar equipment
Interface with local building inspectors to ensure compliance with jurisdiction-specific requirements
Requirements
Current Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent state/local certification (e.g., wireman license)
Hands-on experience installing and repairing electrical systems
Working knowledge of wiring and equipment up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
Experience replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels (preferred)
Valid driver's license and clean driving record; ability to pass background check
Minimum age 21
Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds with assistance
Ability to work on rooftops at various angles and heights, requiring climbing, balancing, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, and maneuvering in confined spaces (attics, basements, crawl spaces)
Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, wet conditions, and excessive noise
Ability to wear and work safely with heavy protective equipment including fall protection harnesses, arc flash suits, gloves, and face shields
Ability to distinguish colors (red, black, yellow, white, green)
Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
Ability to walk on roof surfaces without causing damage
Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protection
