Certified Electrician 1

Sunrun, the largest dedicated residential solar and storage company in the US, seeks a Certified Electrician to join the Bay Area South branch. In this role, you'll lead electrical installations on residential solar and battery systems, perform diagnostics and repairs for existing customers, and collaborate with local inspectors to ensure compliance. You'll work across a range of projects—from rooftop module interconnection to main panel upgrades—and gain exposure to emerging energy storage technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation of electrical systems connecting solar arrays to residential grid power
• Supervise work quality and code compliance (NEC and local standards) across installer team
• Install solar battery systems as assigned
• Diagnose and resolve electrical system faults
• Plan and execute main panel upgrades (MPU)
• Coordinate system upgrades and repairs with branch team and homeowners
• Liaise with local inspectors to meet jurisdictional requirements
• Travel approximately 5% of work time

Requirements

• Valid Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification (wireman license or state/local equivalent)
• Hands-on experience installing and repairing electrical systems
• Working knowledge of 600 VDC and 480 VAC wiring systems
• Experience replacing residential electrical service panels and distribution systems
• Valid driver's license, 21 years of age or older
• Clean driving record and ability to pass driving background check
• Ability to lift and transport materials up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Ability to work on rooftops at various angles and heights, including climbing, balancing, and walking on roof surfaces without damage
• Ability to work in confined spaces (attics, basements, crawl spaces) requiring kneeling and crouching
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions: extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, humidity, excessive noise
• Ability to work while wearing heavy protective equipment including arc flash suits, gloves, and face shields
• Ability to use hand tools requiring fine motor skills (manipulation, grasping, pinching)
• Ability to distinguish colors (red, black, yellow, white, green)
• Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
• Ability to work safely with chemicals using appropriate protection
• Ability to work in sun and low-light conditions
