Job Description
Rosendin Electric, one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States, seeks an Estimator II for its El Paso, TX office. This mid-level position involves preparing bid documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects, with support from senior estimators on small- to medium-sized assignments. The role offers hands-on experience in takeoff calculations, supplier coordination, and project handoff meetings with field teams.
Responsibilities
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and bidding requirements
- Prepare detailed estimates by calculating complete takeoffs and entering data into the estimating system; verify accuracy and completeness of printouts
- Identify and solicit quotes from qualified suppliers and subcontractors; review quotes for compliance with plans and specifications
- Quantify and itemize all bid components, including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies
- Assist in developing labor productivity and installation unit costs based on site conditions and historical data
- Compile scope of work, technical requirements, and pricing; present bid packages to Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, and Chief Estimator
- Meet with project management and senior estimators at project turnover to explain estimate details, scope, quotes, and transition considerations
- Prepare scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
- Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents and maintain supporting files for estimating assumptions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or combination of education, training, and relevant experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience estimating data centers and/or commercial construction projects, preferably electrical
- Proficiency in Accubid estimating software
- Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents
- Proficiency in CAD or 3D software (preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control
- Competency with computerized cost data systems and electrical systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Capacity to perform arithmetic calculations and work under time pressure
- Ability to lift occasionally up to 30 lbs
- Up to 10% travel
