Job Description

Rosendin Electric, one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States and the nation's largest employee-owned electrical firm, seeks an Electrical Estimator II for its Tempe, Arizona office. This mid-level position involves preparing bid documents and cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects, working with moderate guidance from senior estimators on small- to medium-sized jobs.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine project scope and requirements
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates by performing takeoffs and entering data into estimating software; verify estimate printouts for accuracy and completeness
  • Identify and contact qualified suppliers and subcontractors; solicit and review quotes for compliance with plans and specifications
  • Quantify all project incidentals including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data, in conjunction with senior estimators
  • Compile bid packages addressing scope of work, technical requirements, and pricing; present to Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, or Chief Estimator
  • Meet with project management and senior estimators post-award to explain estimate details, scope inclusions/exclusions, quotes, and transition considerations
  • Prepare scope letters with inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
  • Maintain organized files documenting estimating assumptions and methodologies
  • Ensure timely completion of all client-required documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably electrical construction
  • Proficiency with Accubid estimating software
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical construction technology and estimating techniques
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Proficiency with CAD or 3D software (preferred)
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for cost estimating and interpret computerized cost data
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs
  • Up to 10% travel
