Estimator - Electrical Construction

Rosendin Electric, one of the largest employee-owned electrical contractors in the United States, seeks an Estimator II for its El Paso, TX office. This mid-level position involves preparing bid documents and cost estimates for commercial and electrical construction projects, working with moderate guidance from senior estimators on small- to medium-sized jobs.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications and construction drawings to determine scope of work and project requirements
• Prepare cost estimates by performing complete takeoffs and entering data into the computerized estimating system
• Review estimate printouts for accuracy and completeness
• Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors; solicit and review quotes for compliance with plans and specifications
• Quantify all bid components including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies
• Provide guidance to personnel preparing completion matrices for assigned bids
• Develop labor productivity rates and installation unit costs based on site conditions and historical data, in conjunction with senior estimators
• Compile scope of work documentation, address technical requirements and pricing, and present bid packages to Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, and Chief Estimator
• Meet with project management and senior estimator following successful bids to explain estimate details, scope, quotes, and transition plan
• Prepare scope letters documenting inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
• Maintain files and documentation supporting estimating assumptions and methodologies
• Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably in electrical construction
• Advanced knowledge of assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control
• Proficiency with Accubid estimating software
• Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents
• Ability to interpret computerized cost data and electrical systems
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• CAD or 3D software proficiency preferred
• Arithmetic calculation skills required for estimating work
• Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs
• Travel up to 10%
