Rosendin Electric, one of the largest employee-owned electrical contractors in the United States, seeks a Senior Estimator for its headquarters office in California. In this role, you will lead the preparation of bid documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects, supervising junior estimators and coordinating with suppliers and customers to deliver competitive, detailed proposals.
Responsibilities
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates from quantity take-offs and complete estimates to computer output
Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine project scope and estimate requirements
Identify and evaluate areas for value engineering and cost savings opportunities
Supervise and provide leadership to personnel preparing discipline-specific sub-estimates for assigned bids
Develop labor productivity standards and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical performance data
Prepare detailed material and equipment listings and obtain competitive quotes from qualified suppliers and subcontractors
Review supplier quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications
Draft scope and proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects
Conduct detailed pre-bid review with Chief Estimator covering scope, technical requirements, and pricing
Meet with Project Management at project turnover to explain job scope, potential risk areas, and transition requirements
Maintain organized files of all working documents and data supporting estimate figures
Ensure timely completion and delivery of all client-required documents
Update and maintain Rosendin-approved estimating software
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
Minimum 4 years of estimating or relevant construction estimation experience
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred
CAD or 3D software experience preferred
Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
Capacity to coordinate and supervise group work effort
Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs; extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and typing
Travel up to 10% as required
