Job Description

Rosendin Electric, one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States and the industry's largest employee-owned company, seeks a Senior Low Voltage Estimator for its headquarters office in California. You will lead the estimating process for low voltage construction and technology infrastructure projects, including structured cabling, security, access control, and audiovisual systems, while collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to develop competitive bids and ensure project profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid packages from quantity take-offs, including computer-generated printouts
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to establish project scope and estimate requirements
  • Evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing; identify and solicit quotes from qualified suppliers
  • Review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering analysis
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel preparing discipline sub-estimates for assigned bids
  • Prepare detailed material and equipment listings for estimate development
  • Maintain complete working documents and data files to support all estimate figures
  • Draft scope and proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects
  • Conduct detailed bid-package reviews with the Chief Estimator prior to formal issuance, covering scope, technical requirements, and pricing
  • Meet with Project Management at project turnover to explain job scope, areas of attention, and transition details
  • Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents
  • Update Rosendin estimating software and maintain organized estimate files

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of estimating or relevant construction-closing experience
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering design drawings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred
  • Experience with CAD or 3D software preferred
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure with varying environmental conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally
  • Up to 10% travel
