Job Description

Rosendin Electric, one of the largest employee-owned electrical contractors in the United States, seeks a Senior Estimator for its San Jose, CA office. In this role, you will lead the preparation of bid and cost estimates for electrical construction projects, mentoring junior estimators and coordinating with suppliers and customers to deliver competitive, accurate proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and complete cost estimates for electrical construction projects, from inception through final bid submission
  • Lead and mentor other Estimators in preparing discipline-specific sub-estimates and reviewing their work for accuracy and completeness
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and estimate requirements
  • Identify and evaluate value engineering opportunities to reduce project costs while maintaining scope and quality
  • Develop labor productivity metrics and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical project data
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for conformance with plans, specifications, and project requirements
  • Prepare detailed material and equipment listings and obtain supplier quotations
  • Draft scope and proposal letters for both bid and negotiated projects
  • Conduct detailed technical reviews of estimated bid packages with the Chief Estimator prior to formal submission
  • Meet with Project Management at project turnover to explain job scope, technical requirements, potential areas of concern, and transition planning
  • Maintain organized files of all working documents, calculations, and supporting data that substantiate estimate figures
  • Input and maintain estimates in Rosendin's approved estimating software system

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in estimating or other relevant construction estimating work
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Experience with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software (preferred)
  • Experience with CAD or 3D software (preferred)
  • Competency in performing arithmetic calculations and cost analysis required for estimating
  • Capacity to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally
  • Up to 10% travel

Salary: $128,000–$167,900 annually (based on qualifications, experience, and location)
