Job Description

Rosendin Electric, one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States and employee-owned, seeks a Senior Estimator for High Voltage work in Austin, Texas. You will lead estimation efforts for complex renewable energy and mission-critical projects—including substations, transmission lines, and medium voltage distribution networks—within the Pre-Construction team, ensuring competitive and profitable bids on high-value EPC work.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates from quantity take-off through final assembly, including vendor and subcontractor RFP issuance and bid leveling
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine project scope
  • Identify and evaluate project risks; collaborate with project teams on mitigation strategies
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical engineering teams during proposal design and estimation
  • Evaluate value engineering opportunities for cost savings
  • Assess design and engineering for completeness and accuracy
  • Lead junior estimators and discipline-specific sub-estimate preparation
  • Maintain all working documents and data supporting estimate figures
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on site conditions and historical data
  • Prepare detailed material and equipment listings; identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors
  • Review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications
  • Ensure timely completion of client-required documents and scope/proposal letters
  • Conduct detailed bid package reviews with the Chief Estimator before formal submission
  • Participate in internal estimate reviews and client bid clarification calls
  • Conduct project turnover meetings with Project Management to explain scope, risks, and transition details
  • Update Rosendin estimating systems and maintain comprehensive estimate documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 7–10 years of construction estimating experience, preferably in renewable energy or related sectors
  • Expert knowledge of substations, transmission and distribution systems, construction technology, and estimating techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Experience with Accubid Enterprise a plus
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems
  • Capability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for site visits and project meetings
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs
