Job Description

Rosendin Electric, one of the largest employee-owned electrical contractors in the United States, seeks an Estimator II for its Sacramento, CA office. In this mid-level role, you will prepare bid documents and cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects, working with moderate guidance from senior estimators on small- to medium-sized assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposal specifications and engineering drawings to determine scope of work and project requirements
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates by performing complete takeoffs and entering data into computerized estimating systems
  • Review estimate printouts for accuracy and completeness
  • Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors; solicit, review, and evaluate quotes against plans and specifications
  • Quantify all project incidentals including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies
  • Provide guidance to personnel preparing completion matrices for assigned bids
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data in conjunction with senior estimators
  • Compile scope of work documentation, address technical requirements and pricing, and present bid packages to Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, and Chief Estimator
  • Meet with project management teams at project turnover to explain estimates, scope, quotes, and ensure successful project transition
  • Prepare scope letters detailing inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates
  • Maintain organized files of working documents supporting estimating assumptions and methodologies
  • Complete all client-required documents on schedule

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably electrical construction
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques, construction technology, and cost control
  • Proficiency in Accubid estimating software
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents
  • Proficiency in CAD or 3D software (preferred)
  • Competency with computerized cost data systems and electrical systems interpretation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs
  • Up to 10% travel
