Job Description

Rosendin Electric, one of the largest electrical contractors in the US and employee-owned, seeks an Estimator II for its San Jose, CA office. In this mid-level role, you will prepare bid documents and cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects, working with moderate guidance from senior estimators on small- to medium-sized projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and project requirements
  • Prepare cost estimates by performing complete takeoffs and entering data into the estimating system
  • Review estimate printouts for accuracy and completeness
  • Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors; solicit and review quotes for alignment with plans and specifications
  • Quantify and itemize incidentals including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies
  • Provide guidance to personnel preparing bid completion matrices for assigned projects
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data, in conjunction with Senior Estimators
  • Compile scope of work, address technical requirements and pricing, and present bid packages to Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, and Chief Estimator
  • Meet with project management and senior estimators at project turnover to explain estimate details, scope, quotes, and ensure successful transition
  • Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents
  • Prepare scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates
  • Maintain files of working documents supporting estimating assumptions and methodologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably electrical construction
  • Proficiency in Accubid estimating software
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents
  • Advanced knowledge of assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and electrical systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • CAD or 3D software proficiency preferred
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs
  • Up to 10% travel
