Job Description
Rosendin Electric, one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States, seeks an Estimator II for its Coppell, TX office. This mid-level role involves preparing bid documents and cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects. You will review specifications and drawings, calculate takeoffs, solicit supplier and subcontractor quotes, and present detailed estimates to senior leadership, working with moderate guidance on small- to medium-sized projects.
Responsibilities
- Review proposal specifications and engineering drawings to determine scope of work and project requirements
- Prepare detailed estimates by calculating complete takeoffs and entering data into the company's estimating system
- Verify estimate printouts for accuracy and completeness
- Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors; solicit, review, and evaluate quotes for compliance with plans and specifications
- Quantify all project incidentals including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies
- Provide guidance to personnel preparing completion matrices for assigned bids
- Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data, in conjunction with Senior Estimators
- Compile scope of work, address technical requirements and pricing, then present bid packages to Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, and/or Chief Estimator
- Meet with project management and senior-level estimators post-award to explain estimate details, scope, quotes, and ensure smooth project transition
- Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents
- Prepare scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
- Maintain organized files of working documents supporting estimating assumptions and methodologies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably electrical construction
- Proficiency with Accubid estimating software
- Proficiency with CAD or 3D software (preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of electrical construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control
- Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and electrical systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Strong arithmetic and calculation skills required for estimating
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally
- Travel up to 10% as needed
