Job Description
Rosendin Electric, one of the largest electrical contracting firms in the United States and the industry's largest employee-owned company, seeks an Electrical Estimator II for its Gallatin, TN office. In this mid-level role, you will prepare detailed bid documents and cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects, working with moderate guidance from senior estimators on small- to medium-sized jobs.
Responsibilities
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and project requirements
- Calculate complete takeoffs and enter cost data into estimating software; verify estimates for accuracy and completeness
- Identify and contact qualified suppliers and subcontractors; review and evaluate submitted quotes against plans and specifications
- Quantify all bid components including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, and materials
- Develop labor productivity rates and installation unit costs in conjunction with senior estimators, incorporating site conditions and historical project data
- Compile bid packages addressing scope, technical requirements, and pricing; present completed estimates to Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, and Chief Estimator
- Attend project turnover meetings to explain estimates, scope inclusions/exclusions, quotes, and transition details to project management
- Prepare scope letters documenting inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
- Maintain complete documentation and files supporting estimating assumptions and methodologies
- Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant hands-on experience)
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on estimating experience on commercial construction projects, preferably electrical construction
- Proficiency with Accubid estimating software
- Proficiency with CAD or 3D modeling software preferred
- Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Competency with computerized cost data systems and electrical systems interpretation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. occasionally
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
