Electrical Estimator

Rosendin Electric, one of the largest employee-owned electrical contractors in the United States, is hiring an Electrical Estimator for its Sterling, VA office. This entry-level, salaried position supports the preparation of bid documents and cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects, working under the guidance of senior estimators on small to medium-scope assignments.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and estimate content
• Perform complete takeoffs and prepare cost estimates using established procedures and computer estimating systems
• Calculate material, labor, and subcontractor costs for electrical construction projects
• Review estimate printouts for accuracy and completeness
• Solicit and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors against plans and specifications
• Collaborate with senior-level estimators to present detailed scope, technical requirements, and pricing analysis to management
• Draft scope letters documenting inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications using existing templates
• Maintain organized files of working documents supporting estimating assumptions and methodologies
• Ensure timely completion of all client-required bid documents

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience)
• 0–2 years of estimating experience in commercial construction, preferably electrical
• Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents
• Basic experience or exposure with Accubid estimating software
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
• Ability to interpret computerized cost data and electrical systems
• Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, type, carry, push, and bend as needed
• Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs
• Up to 10% travel
