Job Description
Rosendin Electric, one of the largest electrical contractors in the U.S., seeks a Senior Electrical Estimator for its San Francisco office. In this lead role, you will prepare comprehensive bid and cost estimates for electrical construction projects, mentor junior estimators, and coordinate with suppliers and clients to ensure competitive, accurate proposals.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates from quantity take-offs and complete estimates to final computer printout
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to establish project scope
- Identify and evaluate value engineering opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining project requirements
- Provide leadership to personnel preparing discipline-specific sub-estimates for assigned bids
- Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data
- Create detailed material and equipment listings and solicit competitive quotes from qualified suppliers and subcontractors
- Review supplier quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications
- Draft scope and proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects
- Conduct detailed scope, technical, and pricing reviews with the Chief Estimator prior to formal bid issuance
- Meet with Project Management at project turnover to explain scope, identify areas of attention, and facilitate successful transition
- Maintain and organize all working documents, backup data, and estimate files in the Rosendin estimating program
- Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 4 years of estimating or relevant construction estimate closing experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software (preferred)
- CAD or 3D software experience (preferred)
- Capacity to manage multiple concurrent tasks and prioritize under changing requirements
- Up to 10% travel
- Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, type, and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
