Estimator I (Electrical/Construction)

Rosendin Electric seeks an Estimator I for its Sterling, VA office to support electrical construction project bidding and cost estimation. This entry-level, salaried position works under general supervision to prepare bid documents and estimates for small to medium projects, learning established procedures from senior estimators while contributing to timely project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and estimate content requirements
• Perform complete material and labor takeoffs and enter data into the company estimating system
• Review estimate printouts for accuracy and completeness
• Solicit and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors against plans and specifications
• Assist senior estimators in preparing detailed scope, technical requirements, and pricing reviews for bid packages
• Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications using existing templates
• Maintain working document files to support estimating assumptions and methodologies
• Support timely completion of client-required documents

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience)
• 0–2 years of experience in commercial construction estimating, preferably electrical
• Basic experience or exposure with Accubid estimating software
• Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Competency in arithmetic calculations and interpreting computerized cost data for electrical systems
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
• Comfortable working under time pressure
• Up to 10% travel
• Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs; work conducted primarily indoors with extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and typing
