Job Description

Rosendin Electric seeks a Solar Technician for its Abilene, TX location to support the installation, assembly, and maintenance of commercial and industrial photovoltaic systems. This entry-level to early-career role is designed for individuals building foundational skills in electrical construction and solar installation under the supervision of experienced technicians and foremen, with all work performed to NEC standards and company safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in installing and assembling solar panels, PV racking systems, mounting structures, and related electrical components according to blueprints and schematics
  • Support fixture installation, basic wiring, grounding, and electrical connections under supervision in compliance with NEC standards
  • Conduct routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance on solar arrays to ensure proper system performance
  • Assist with troubleshooting high- and low-voltage electrical issues using hand and power tools and technical diagrams under guidance
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and construction plans with support from senior technicians
  • Safely operate basic construction site equipment and tools
  • Follow all Rosendin safety policies and procedures, including fall protection, electrical safety, and rooftop safety standards

Requirements

  • Entry-level experience or exposure to electrical construction, solar installation, or related trades; commercial electrical experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring methods, and construction tools
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and construction plans
  • Familiarity with NEC standards and electrical safety practices preferred
  • Experience working on construction sites preferred
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools; forklift or equipment operation experience a plus
  • Ability to perform ladder climbing, wire pulling, and conduit installation
  • Capacity to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis
  • Ability to maintain a standing position for long periods while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs. from the ground and pulling 50 lbs. of force
  • Full use of feet, legs, hands, and arms to climb and balance on scaffolding or ladders
  • Full use of arms, hands, and fingers to reach, handle, and feel cable, wires, tools, and equipment
  • Ability to work off ladders, man lifts, or reach booms without fear of heights
  • Corrected or uncorrected vision sufficient to see close and distant objects
  • Ability to hear adequately for jobsite communication
  • Ability to distinguish color-coded wires
  • Ability to adjust vision focus and use peripheral vision and depth perception
