Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks an Operations & Maintenance Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for long-term service agreements on utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects nationwide. This fully remote role involves analyzing RFP documents, project specifications, and technical requirements to support competitive bidding and project delivery across the company's infrastructure services portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret RFP documents, project plans, specifications, and technical documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for utility-scale solar and BESS projects
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing based on project scope and equipment requirements
  • Identify and quantify equipment and OEM requirements for operations and maintenance agreements
  • Meet and maintain established bidding schedules and timelines
  • Participate in estimate reviews with cross-functional teams
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to define work scopes and obtain pricing for minor project components
  • Maintain vendor relationships to stay current on new equipment models, technical manuals, and pricing changes
  • Identify project risks and assist in preparing risk matrices and go/no-go decision documentation
  • Meet with subject matter experts to validate labor metrics and update estimate templates
  • Maintain and update cost databases, estimating software, and Excel-based estimating templates
  • Develop and maintain estimate version control and tracking processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or architecture, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience
  • Working knowledge of utility-scale solar and BESS standard equipment and operations
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and construction drawings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formula development and data analysis
  • Demonstrated accuracy in quantification and cost calculations
  • Experience with electrical systems, utility-scale solar operations and maintenance, or BESS operations (preferred)
