Job Description
SOLV Energy seeks an Electrical Superintendent to oversee utility-scale solar and battery storage construction projects in Plymouth, NC. This role involves direct supervision of field operations, multiple crews, and subcontractors across utility-scale solar sites, with responsibility for schedule management, quality control, safety compliance, and coordination between owners, engineers, and trade partners from preconstruction through project closeout.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all field construction activities for utility-scale solar projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and design standards
- Manage and coordinate multiple crews and subcontractors across various sites and regions
- Oversee electrical subcontractors, testing agencies, and commissioning teams
- Manage and maintain project schedules (CPM) to ensure timely, cost-effective completion
- Review and interpret contracts, drawings, specifications, schedules, and submittals from preconstruction through project turnover
- Order and track materials, tools, and equipment in coordination with procurement teams
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and maintain electrical safety standards
- Enforce and model company safety procedures; lead and participate in all safety training programs
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate field personnel, including Assistant Superintendents, Foremen, and crew members
- Conduct daily reports, time sheets, work orders, and project documentation
- Lead pre-job, progress, and subcontractor coordination meetings
- Support site teams with RFIs, submittals, commissioning, and start-up testing; ensure timely project closeout and owner acceptance
- Coordinate material and equipment delivery with site teams and internal departments
- Develop and maintain relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors
- Collaborate with mechanical and civil teams to ensure successful project execution
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of field construction experience at a supervisory level (10 years preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of utility-scale solar construction experience
- Extensive electrical construction experience
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, NEC, and IEEE standards and codes
- Demonstrated expertise in job scheduling, planning, expediting, and cost control
- STSC Certification (Safety Trained Supervisor Construction) or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
- Extensive knowledge of PV solar systems and DC cable systems
- Proficiency in underground electrical installations, including cable pulling through conduits and bores and direct-buried AC/DC feeder installations
- Experience with inverter skid underground installation, setting, terminations, and testing
- Strong knowledge of electrical testing and commissioning
- Preferred: 5 years' experience with medium-voltage (MV) testing and terminations
- Preferred: experience with SCADA systems in solar or electrical applications
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
