EPC Project Manager, Utility Scale Solar (Plymouth, NC)

SOLV Energy seeks an EPC Project Manager for utility-scale solar construction in Plymouth, NC. This full-time, on-site role directs all phases of large photovoltaic plant projects—from planning and procurement through closeout—working alongside a superintendent team and managing substantial labor crews. The position requires extensive travel and assignment to remote jobsites.

Responsibilities

• Partner with superintendent to plan, sequence, and execute self-performed work; manage labor crew sizes, productivity targets, and monthly labor spend forecasts
• Track actual construction results against plan; adjust and refine cost and schedule forecasts based on field performance
• Develop and implement safety plans in coordination with the superintendent; ensure compliance with all safety procedures
• Oversee project billing and cash flow management; prioritize collection of aged receivables and present these in owner meetings
• Negotiate and present change orders to owner for timely resolution
• Procure and negotiate cost-effective subcontract and material purchases; coordinate with suppliers to resolve logistical and supply-chain challenges
• Establish job procedures and timelines for buyout, shop drawing approval, and material delivery to keep projects on schedule
• Deliver timely, accurate cost forecasting and estimated cost-at-completion reporting to management
• Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor project team members; foster professional growth and career development
• Review contract terms and conditions; ensure full compliance throughout project execution
• Document all significant project events including accidents, delays, and change orders
• Direct preconstruction services; prepare and issue subcontract bid packages
• Identify and evaluate project risks; develop mitigation plans with team and operations management
• Develop and implement Site-Specific Quality Management Plan (SSQMP); maintain quality control standards
• Manage claims avoidance and conflict mitigation strategies
• Execute job closeout procedures and conduct warranty follow-up (typical 2-year period)
• Build and maintain strong relationships with owner, architect, and subcontractors
• Organize and lead regular meetings with owner and key project partners
• Negotiate with local labor providers to secure adequate workforce at competitive rates

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture (preferred)
• 5–8 years of field construction management experience with supervisory responsibility
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and industry-standard tools (Bluebeam Revu)
• CMiC experience (preferred)
• Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting
• Thorough understanding of project management control systems: scheduling, cost control, procurement, and estimating
• Strong knowledge of utility-scale PV plant construction means, methods, sequencing, and techniques
• Understanding of utility and ISO interconnection sequencing and durations
• Ability to travel extensively (minimum 50%), including lengthy on-site assignments in remote and rural areas
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
