Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks an electrical estimator to prepare cost estimates for battery energy storage systems (BESS) and solar photovoltaic projects at utility scale. Based in San Diego, CA on a hybrid schedule, you'll lead takeoffs, supplier coordination, and bid package development for infrastructure projects nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to define scope and estimate requirements for BESS and PV projects
  • Perform takeoffs and enter scope details into the estimating system using Accubid Anywhere
  • Quantify bid package costs, including subcontracted work, equipment rentals, tools, and supplier expenses
  • Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors, request quotes, and evaluate submissions for compliance with plans and specifications
  • Review scope, technical requirements, and pricing before issuing formal bid packages
  • Use Accubid Manager to allocate labor and improve proprietary assemblies
  • Support project turnover by reviewing estimates, scope, quotes, and key considerations with project teams
  • Prepare scope letters documenting inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications that support estimate values
  • Collaborate with field teams to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Complete client-required documentation on schedule
  • Supervise and train estimating staff as assigned
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or equivalent combination of education and field experience
  • Minimum three years of electrical estimating or directly related experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of substation, transmission, switchyard, energy storage, and electrical design components
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Excel, and Accubid
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship
