Job Description
SOLV Energy, through its SDI Services division, seeks a Superintendent to oversee utility-scale solar foundation and construction operations. This full-time on-site role in Peoria, IL reports to SDI Services management and requires leadership of geotechnical drilling, pile foundation installation, and solar construction crews on utility-scale projects. You will manage planning, scheduling, budgeting, safety compliance, and day-to-day field execution across all construction phases.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and oversee solar construction operations and foundation drilling activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project specifications
- Manage and lead construction crews, drilling equipment operators, and subcontractors to meet project timelines and deliverables
- Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret geotechnical data, select drilling methods, and optimize foundation designs
- Develop construction schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans; monitor progress and adjust as needed
- Conduct site inspections to assess soil conditions, drilling progress, quality control, and equipment performance
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety meetings, and ensure crew training in safety best practices
- Maintain drilling equipment, order supplies, and manage inventory to support field operations
- Troubleshoot technical and equipment issues and implement solutions to ensure continuous project execution
- Prepare project documentation, reports, and stakeholder updates
- Lead foundation drilling projects from mobilization through completion, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED plus four years of related experience in foundation drilling, construction, or project management; qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis
- Demonstrated progressive advancement in construction, drilling, or geotechnical project management
- Deep understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics, and drilling equipment operation and maintenance
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and basic project management software
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports
- Knowledge of grouting techniques and processes
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and commitment to on-site safety culture
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification or equivalent state licensure may be required depending on location
- Certifications in foundation drilling or construction management are advantageous
- Union-related experience is a plus
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship
