Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support high-voltage (HV) construction and operations on a utility-scale solar project in Galesburg, Illinois. This full-time, on-site role involves coordinating with project engineers, managing HV subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with interconnection agreements and utility requirements. Regular travel (local and interstate) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and communicate project engineer responsibilities to support project success
  • Review Power Purchase Agreements, Generator Interconnection Agreements, Utility Interconnection requirements, contracts, System Impact Studies, Facility Studies, and customer/owner engineer specifications for compliance
  • Review LNTP and Early Stage Deliverables
  • Assist in preparing project HV budgets and forecasts
  • Develop subcontractor scopes of work and support subcontracting efforts with the Project Manager
  • Manage HV subcontractors, including billings, RFIs, status reports, and risk tracking
  • Manage HV scope changes
  • Manage and collect RFIs
  • Participate in Project Kick-Off, Utility Coordination, Owner Coordination, SE Team, and Material Procurement Review meetings
  • Review construction schedules and project scope
  • Assemble and manage final completion punchlist
  • Support engineering team on material procurement
  • Maintain safe work environment and direct safe work practices in energized substations
  • Travel locally and interstate as required

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–4 years of work experience in design and/or construction of power substations
  • PMP certification or direct relevant industry experience in electrical construction and operation
  • Knowledge of construction and operation of electrical equipment and installation
  • P6 scheduling experience preferred
  • Proficiency in office practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and prioritize problems independently
  • Effective written and verbal English communication
  • Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, standing, and walking
  • Lifting 20 or more pounds regularly
  • Constant finger dexterity; ability to see details at close and distance ranges; ability to hear, talk, and maintain depth perception
  • Occasional climbing, carrying, and working at heights with proximity to moving mechanical parts
  • Occasional exposure to environmental conditions
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
