Job Description
Sunrun, the largest dedicated residential solar and storage company in the United States, is hiring Installers for our Somerset, NJ location. As an Installer, you will be part of a construction crew performing residential solar photovoltaic installations, working directly with a Foreperson and Lead Installer to complete projects from assembly through final cleanup. This role emphasizes field safety, hands-on technical work, and collaboration in a vertically integrated company where you can develop skills across multiple areas of the solar energy lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Maintain personal, crew, and job site safety at all times; participate in training on products, installation methods, and safety protocols
- Inspect and stock crew trucks with required materials and equipment from the loading dock
- Assemble and install solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment according to project specifications
- Apply weather sealing to roofing structures and support mechanisms
- Clean up job sites and installation vehicles to maintain orderly work environments
Requirements
- Previous solar installation, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
- Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work safely on rooftops of various angles and surfaces, including climbing ladders and maintaining balance at height
- Capability to perform repetitive bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and other movements required for rooftop and ground-level work
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including excessive heat, cold, moisture, humidity, and noise
- Fine motor skills for gripping, pinching, and detailed hand manipulation
- Ability to safely use and maintain fall protection harnesses, ladders, and other personal protective equipment
- Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and shingles without causing damage
- Color vision sufficient to distinguish red, black, yellow, white, and green
- Ability to hear and respond to verbal commands and safety warnings
- Ability to work safely with weather-sealing chemicals and appropriate protective measures
