Estimator

Rosendin Electric seeks an Estimator I for its San Jose, CA office. This is an entry-level, salaried position supporting bid preparation and cost estimation for electrical construction projects. You will work under the guidance of senior estimators on small to medium projects, learning established procedures while contributing to timely project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and estimate contents
• Calculate complete takeoff of scope using established procedures and enter data into the computer estimating system
• Review estimate printouts for accuracy and completeness
• Solicit and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors in relation to plans and specifications
• Assist senior-level estimators in providing detailed scope, technical requirements, and pricing review for bid packages
• Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications using existing templates
• Maintain files of working documents to support estimating assumptions and methodologies
• Ensure timely completion of client-required documents

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience)
• 0–2 years of experience in commercial construction estimating, preferably electrical
• Basic experience or exposure with Accubid estimating software
• Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
• Ability to interpret computerized cost data and electrical systems
• Capacity to work under time pressure, manage multiple tasks with changing priorities, and adapt to varying requirements
• Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
