Job Description

AES Clean Energy seeks a Solar & Battery Energy Storage Technician I for its field operations team based in Kauai, Hawaii. In this role, you will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on distributed and utility-scale solar photovoltaic and battery storage facilities across the local region, with regular inter-island travel. You will work independently and collaboratively, support warranty claims, coordinate contractor activities, and assist with commissioning as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to solar and BESS facilities to conduct preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Perform technical and administrative duties related to operation and maintenance of solar and battery storage power facilities
  • Coordinate and manage contractor support for maintenance activities
  • Provide limited commissioning support
  • Lead and support vendor warranty claims processes
  • Ensure all work complies with environmental and safety requirements
  • Work independently and in team environments

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a PV O&M solar technician, OR three (3) or more years in a power plant
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (e.g., electrical measurements, control circuits, electrical theory application)
  • Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices in power facilities
  • Experience with a variety of electrical equipment
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to operate personal computers and standard business software
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations
  • Physical capability to stand, sit, walk, kneel, twist, climb stairs and ladders, work at heights, and access plant equipment
  • Willingness to work overtime and non-standard hours as required
  • Technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications (preferred)
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) (preferred)
