Job Description
Primoris Renewable Energy is hiring a full-time Traveling Solar Technician based in Aurora, CO. This role involves frequent overnight travel across US solar farm sites to perform diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and field oversight of utility and commercial-scale solar installations and energy storage systems. You'll work both independently in remote locations and as part of a small team, using company or personal vehicles to reach job sites.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain solar photovoltaic systems and related electrical/mechanical components across multiple sites
- Perform equipment inspections and troubleshooting on inverters, battery storage systems, and related solar hardware
- Operate hand and power tools, as well as machinery including skid steers, mini-excavators, backhoes, rock drills, jackhammers, compressors, generators, and winches
- Maintain and inventory company-owned tools and equipment
- Document daily work reports and use laptop-based programs for job tracking and technical data
- Ensure strict compliance with safety and environmental procedures on active construction sites
- Attend staff meetings and support broader company initiatives
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in renewable energy or equivalent technical field experience
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check and physical examination
- Demonstrated knowledge of major solar photovoltaic and energy storage products
- Basic understanding of low-voltage electrical systems
- Training or familiarity with top-tier inverters preferred
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools, hand/power tools, and equipment listed above
- Capacity for frequent overnight travel using company or personal vehicle
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways
- Ability to work in various positions including standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, and crawling for extended periods
- Full range of mobility in upper and lower body
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently throughout workday; use assistance for heavier loads
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel)
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations), and on uneven ground
- Capacity to wear respirator and other PPE when required
- Ability to sustain exposure to extreme heat, cold, humidity, rain, loud noise from tools and machinery, and potential chemical exposure
- Compliance with client safety requirements, including clean-shaven appearance, long sleeves, and steel-toe boots
